Nipmuc Regional High School in Upton, MA will host a guest
speaker, Janet Applefield, on March 19th from 1:00 – 2:00pm in the
auditorium. All
Mendon and Upton residents are welcome to attend. Mrs. Applefield will speak about her life and
her loss as a survivor of the atrocities of the World War II Holocaust. As a
four year old Jewish girl, her country of Poland was attached by Germany
setting off a series of tragic events that destroyed her family and would see
genocide committed on over six million European Jews. Mrs. Applefield will
speak about what hate and prejudice did to her family and life. As a victim to
the Holocaust, she knows her personal experiences have an impact on people. Her
story is not about hatred toward Jewish people, it is about prejudice against
all people the Nazis did not like. Survivors of the Holocaust are a dying
breed. This speaker wants to make an impression and an impact to make others
aware. “This program is supported in part by a grant from the Mendon
Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts
Cultural Council, a state agency”.
