Summer Reading Theater
Presentation: Into the Grimm
Join us for Upton Town Library’s Summer
Reading Kickoff at Nipmuc High School Courtyard on Tuesday, June 25,
6pm-7pm. The Little
Red Wagon traveling theater group will captivate audiences with a presentation
of “Into The Grimm,” a show that weaves together fables and fairy tales. This
show is appropriate for families and children ranging from age 0-11. In case of
rain, this event will be moved to the Nipmuc High School Auditorium. Free admission, no registration required. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on!
Red Cross Babysitter’s
Training
Learn how to help kids have fun, while keeping
them safe and following household rules with a Babysitter's Training provided
by the American Red Cross. Just in time for summer, this program also offers
hands-on skills practice and additional training in first aid. The program will
be held in the Media Center at Memorial
Elementary School on Friday,
June 28, 9am-3:30pm and
is appropriate for kids aged 11-15. Pre-registration and a tuition fee of $85 are
required. Call the library or contact
Miss Nicole to register.
Summer Book and Movie
Club
Upton Town Library will be holding its first
of three summer Book and Movie Club meetings for 9 to 12 year olds on Wednesday,
June 26, 2pm-4pm.
The club will consist of arriving to the group with the book already read and
discussing it briefly, then watching the film together and finally comparing
and contrasting the two. Sign-up sheets for the club are available behind the
circulation desk. Please direct any questions and title suggestions to the
library by calling 508-629-6272 or by emailing Miss Nicole at nicole.uptonlibrary@gmail.com
Summer TinyTots “Baby”
Storytime
Making connections—whether with books, music,
or people—is the foundation of storytime at Upton Town Library. TinyTots (aka
Baby) Storytime is ideal for acquainting babies, toddlers, and young children
with the library, literature, language and music, as well as for them to bond
with their parents and caregivers and meet new friends! TinyTots lasts about 20
minutes followed by open playtime and book browsing. Registration is requested,
but drop-ins are always welcome. Sessions are held in eight-week intervals on
Friday mornings at 10:30am. Our Summer session
will run from June 21 to August 9, 2013.
Preschool Storytime
Preschool Storytime is on Thursdays at
10:30am and 1:30pm at Upton Town Library! Several picture books are read aloud
followed by a theme-related activity or craft. Our upcoming themes for June
include Father’s Day, sea creatures, and digging! Note: On Thursday, June 27,
there will be no Preschool Storytime at 1:30pm to accommodate another
in-library event. Registration is requested, but drop-ins are always welcome
for either the morning or afternoon sessions.
