The Basics:
step 1) - Register at the Library to receive your reading bag with schedule, bingo sheet, reading log, pencil and some goodies. Registration begins on June 19th.step 2) - Visit the Library each week from June 26th through August 18th and choose a prize from the Treasure Chest!
step 3) - Attend some of our events and programs over the summer.
The Events:
June 27th, Wednesday 6pm at Nipmuc Highschool courtyard - "The Frog Prince" children's theater presented by the Little Red Wagon troupe. Ideal for ages 5-10, an interactive and comedic adaption of the classic fairy tale. Bring a blanket or some chairs. In case of rain, we'll move inside to the auditorium.July 10th, Tuesday 2pm at Nipmuc Highschool auditorium - Songs and Storytelling from Davis Bates and Roger Tincknell. Ideal for ages 5-8, a combination of traditional and original songs and stories from the award-winning pair.
July 31st, Tuesday 10am-12pm on the Library Lawn - Lil' Folk Farm travelling Petting Zoo. For ages 3-8, come pet the Goats, Rabbits and Chickens. These animals are professionals and enjoy the attention! Drop in anytime between 10 and noon.
The Programs:
We encourage you to call and pre-register as space is limited, but drop-ins are also welcome. All programs held at the Upton Town Library.
Ages 0-3 : TinyTots baby storytime. Songs, stories and fun with Miss Nicole! Fridays at 10:30am from July 13th through August 31st.
Ages 3-6: Preschool storytime. Several stories and then a simple craft activity. Thursdays at 10:30 and 1:30, all summer long.
Ages 6-12: Magic Treehouse Bookclub. Read the fiction series at your own pace, and join us for activities and discussion about the non-fiction companion books. Wednesday at 10:30am on July 11th, July 18th and August 8th.
Ages 12-18: Summer Reading study group. Meet at the library to discuss the MURSD and BVT required summer reading books. Share opinions and ideas to get prepared for fall. Tuesday at 2pm on July 10th, July 17th and July 24th. Also join us for a special Summer Reading pizza party on Friday, August 3rd, 2-4pm.
The Finale:
Ice Cream Social! Join us as we wrap up the summer with free ice cream on the Library lawn. Saturday, August 18th 11am-1pm.All Summer Reading programs are free and open to all members of the Upton Community.
